I know someone very well who is like this. Pretty much a complete atheist but thinks it is highly highly unlikely that chimps and humans share a common ancestor and what not. He doesn't even believe that all the races of human beings came from the same ancestors.

Animals evolve over time. That's an observable fact. Do animals eventually evolve into other types of animals? That's a whole other can of jelly and up for debate.

Right now the only 2 theories I know of are "animals evolved from single cells created by lightning striking a puddle" and "uhhh....magic?"
Neither of those have enough evidence to support them at this point, so I'm open to suggestions

I'd definitely lean towards the theory of evolution at this point, but there are still lots of holes that need to be filled. We need to drain the oceans and see what kind of fossils we can find at the bottom.

Microevolution exists and it's hard to find people willing to refute that. It's evolution on an individual level in a short timeframe. It is observable from single celled organisms to larger creatures.

Macroevolution (or evolution as many people think of it) is the longer scale aggregate of microevolution and environmental influence such as large environmental changes. You're looking at changes over geological timeframes rather than a handful of generations. Speciation occurs.

If microevolution exists, over enough time macroevolution must exist. You just can't live long enough to witness the occurrence. That's where we have to turn to fossil records or specimens preserved in other ways, and where DNA can be helpful when it's possible to compare.

Since there are so many breeds of dog, there's got to be a wider variety of human races we can come up with. The current selection is kind of bland. I mean we've got midgets, which are kind of like corgis, but we need some dedicated breeding efforts to see what else we can make.
