Would rather people on CE learn by doing rather than staying silent and remaining that way.

Can you believe how small and powerful the Xbox One X is? Easily the most powerful console on the market. Just imagine what you'd get to do with all 12 teraflops of power

lol teraflops is that what they're called? IDK I want an Xbox, but would probably get a PS4 first. If anything tho, I'd like to build a PC. Heard it's better in the long run.

Funny thing is that I had a very similar talk just last night with a guy, so you're super wrong. He was telling how he liked his Xbox better due to some issue with PS4. And I was like well I just want a PS4 for certain games, but if anything I'd build a PC. And he went on to talk about his PC experience as well, soooo....

you said to talk about what i post on CE.

here's the truth, straight from GB's fingers:

in a small talk situation, most scenarios will begin with "how are you?" followed by "good", "no complaints," or if it is past 2pm "tired" or "ready to go home, ha ha".

However, if your social contact prolongs past that, then you get into actual small talk territory.

there are three topics you can use in small talk:

1. the weather
2. your commute to work
3. light, non-partisan discussion of major sporting events ("did you catch the Local Football Team game last night?" or "are you a Local Football Team fan?")

if you get to know the person better you can try the below three:

1. asking about their weekend
2. light, surface level discussion of TV shows ("do you watch Game of Thrones?")
3. extremely non-invasive questions about their kids (" Your son just started high school, right? How does he like it?" / "He says it's good")

and that is it. Anything else is out of place in a professional setting and if you get too personal with talking about your interests you risk making yourself look like a weirdo with hobbies ("Oh man, I was up all night painting my Warhammer 40k ultramarines"), since most adults don't have any real hobbies, or risk getting into a position where you start talking about shit that you think is interesting and is small talk but in reality you're basically just lecturing to another person.

as you get older and start dealing with people in a professional setting, where small talk is a way of life, you will soon realize that you have 100 conversations a day but about 99 of them are entirely inconsequential fluff bullshit that exists to help allay the awkward silence in an elevator or kill 3 minutes until your meeting will start.

I asked you what topics do you usually post on CE. I didn't tell you to ask your coworker if they'd fuck a a girl based on her video game history.

BTW, you seem to have this negative mindset. You think playing video games makes you look like a weirdo? That's not true. What IS true is that you do run the risk of lecturing if you are that type of person. But talking with someone isn't about lecturing. You want to listen to who you're talking to. Like I said, learn by doing.

playing video games absolutely does make you look like a weirdo, or at the very least kind of juvenile and dorky.

do you think while I am waiting for a sales meeting to start, I am going to tell the 45 year old Account Manager sitting next to me about how I am going to buy a PS4 to play the latest Japanese RPGs? he'll probably respond with "oh yea, my 11 year old son has an Xbox, he likes to play that 'Call of Duty' game" or think to himself about how I remind him of the Sheldon character from the Big Bang Theory show that he likes.

the unfortunately reality is that everything you do in the professional world reflects on you, and especially when you are young, it's important to present yourself as someone on the same level as the 50 year olds you are working with. it's not the end of the world if a coworker finds out you play to play PS4 games (lol), but I would not be trying to engage them about a topic that they likely have no interest in and will only serve to potentially make you look like a kid.

if you are in a situation where you know someone else at work is a gamer and you are talking about video games, at this point it's a real conversation and no longer smalltalk.

just my two cents

Dat mindset. You keep comparing video games to being a child or nerd. I could list examples of a 30 year old account manager who was showing us how he emulated Pokemon Emerald on his phone. Or a 35 year old urgent care supervisor who invited coworkers to his house for drinks and we ended up playing FIFA. Or a 40 year old production tech who tries to get me to play League of Legends (I don't have a PC). So we'll just have to disagree that video games paint you in a negative light.

But video games isn't all you need to talk about anyway. What else would you create a topic for on GameFAQs?

I work in policy advocacy, so it's not surprising. One of my coworkers is the wife of my state representative, in fact. It would probably be more odd if we didn't talk about politics, though I think it's a bad thing overall for talent recruitment and retention

Why do you hate it though? That's one thing I'm trying to get people to identify. If we can recignize the problem, then we are a step closer to the solution.

I hate small talk because of the forced convo and awkward silences. When I force convo, its usually because I'll trying to find something in common to talk about. But if the convo doesn't lead anywhere or if I can't think of anything to say then it turns into a silence. Then I'm sweating. Trying to think up an excuse to gtfo.

Like one time I was at a friend's wedding. I didn't know anyone else and started chatting with the groom's mother. It seemed to go well, just asked about how we know the couple, but the content ran out because tbqh I'm more of an acquaintance. Then we started talking about the wedding location and that also ran out of words. What I should have done was look for ways to tie it into other things I'm interested in like movies.

We must learn to adapt to the situation. I feel like there are three types of small talk situations. Each one gives you a chance to learn more about the person and make your way to the next level every time you meet.

Someone you never met before on an elevator or bus stop is small talk. Usually has comments like damn it's cold out here.

OR a colleague you often see, but don't know on a personal level. Usually say how's your day going. oh that's cool, did you do that thing over the weekend? cool. aite later.

OR someone you see a lot an actually know. At the water cooler is more chill. Wouldn't be surprised if someone suffers a nut punch or whatever before going back to your duty.

I don't like conversing with people in general if there isn't a point to the conversation?

Balrog summed it up for me. I don't like talking to a stranger unless there's a real reason for it. I don't want to hear a fake or short, uninteresting conversation about your kids or how your morning has been. But if it's a work policy change, a disaster occurred, or some other actual topic, I won't mind a quick exchange of words.

Unless I actually want to get to know you (which, at this point in my life, means I want to see if we can date or be FWB), I don't give a fuck. Not in a rude way, but I just don't care and can't care no matter how hard I try.

People that keep a conversation going about something mundane are the worst. Read body language and gauge if someone wants to continue talking. Also, I find that people who can change the subject to something that could be an interest or hobby, using specifics, to be better conversationalists and less boring all around ("by chance, do you play that new game blah blah blah", or "how do you feel about the newest baseball trade-offs? Those Mets are in for a world of trouble").

Yeah, I don't like small talk either. I think most agree. But I'm sure you understand the value of connections, right? It's like a video game. If you don't talk to people you can miss important side quests that lead to more experience or items.

do you ever wonder why anal bukkakes dont exist?

am i doing this right

Yes. If you were talking to me, I'd ask what a bukkake is. Because I thought it's when a bunch of dudes nut on someone's face.

Yes, that's correct. And then an anal version would be instead of the face, it's in the butt, or on the butt with the butt spread open with a speculum.

It's never been done before.

In da butt, iirc, is anal creampie. I'm sure that exists. Kinda gross if you dont want your penis in a butthole filled with other guy jizz.

Yes, one or just a few loads would be an anal creampie, just like one or a few loads on the face would be a facial.

But the bukkake element would mean take that, and then bump it up to like 50 guys minimum, and bam, anal bukkake.

I think this side convo is much better than the main topic imo.

I wonder what my cum tastes like

This weird shit works, too. But you have to have special confidence for it. I know this crazy dude walks around with dildos, cross dressing, etc. Dude is fat and a total loon, but somehow there is this bad ass aura surrounding him. He pulls fine ass bitches. It boggled my mind for the longest time until I realized that he's simply owning who he is.

Lmao nice one
