Generally speaking, a group dedicated to hating another group is doomed to become worse in every way than the group they targeted, and this is absolutely true of brony-haters.

Even at the height of MLPopularity, whiners kept saying how pushy they were, but I saw them being way more pushy about their hate for the show/fanbase.

Now I seldom ever see a MLP fan just randomly/outwardly talking about the show, but I still see whiny piss topics like this shaking their fist angrily at the fanbase that attracts the usual responses of people going "yeah fuck them" and "despite acknowledging this fandom was large enough to make me hate them for being so popular I apparently never bothered to pay any attention to it, listen to anyone or absorb any information so I just don't understand how this happened!"

It's kinda funny. I don't think anybody outside the internet cares about bronies enough anymore to hate them as much as some people are in this topic. Sure they were a novelty topic years ago on like NPR or something but seems like "normies" have moved on.

Actually if anything it seems like anything grown adults liking things for kids have gotten more accepted. Or at least no one really being overly obnoxious about it. I mean anybody can be into weird shit, you just don't know about it. Your mailman can be a furry, your doctor can have a waifu and/or husbando. There's supposedly some eye doctor that has commissioned a lot of Fox/Falco fanart. Incest is a popular porn search.

And yeah, there's no way to prevent people from being obnoxious sans committing an illegal act. You can, in theory, stop someone from being cringey by torturing them or blackmailing them but if you can't see why that would be a bad idea for all involved... uh well.

Who knows, maybe MLP is to bronies like bronies are to CEmen.

If this was 6 or 7 years ago when annoying bronies were bleeding into every orifice of the Internet spamming endlessly about the show, this thread would have just been business as usual.

But it's the present day. You have to deliberately look for these guys to get upset at them now. If you step into a rat hole and then get upset when rats start chewing at your ankles, that's your own fault.

That goes double when you whine about people ridiculing you for it. And I say this as someone who still finds it hard to tolerate bronies, myself.

Okay. So after years of hearing this "brony" stuff mentioned I'm finally going to ask. Maybe it was these pics that did it.
What is this? I get that it's grown men being fans of a little girl's cartoon to a really creepy degree. But why?

That's not what it is.

Basically, you know how older people are fully capable of liking "kids" cartoons? But there's less stigma about it if the cartoon is supposedly specifically for boys, like Adventure Time?

Well, Lauren Faust basically set out to make a traditionally "girly" cartoon, but with the notion that such a cartoon doesn't have to be basically, bad. And only appealing to little girls who have no sense of anything so will just watch the bright and pretty colors. She wanted to make a good enjoyable cartoon anyone could like. That was the intent and driving force behind the show.

And then people watched it, and found it to be surprisingly fun and good, and the absurdity of a MLP cartoon actually being good and well written drew a lot more people to check it out, usually out of skepticism. And a lot more fans came to be as a result.

It's nothing complicated. It's literally the creator of the show going, "A cartoon about subject matter traditionally being "girly" doesn't have to be vapid stupid garbage. It can be a just generally good cartoon" and then it was and people who aren't so stuffy and insecure that they can enjoy cartoons still despite their age liked it.

Which also means, every single time someone goes "hurr grown men like a cartoon for little girls" that's objectively false. That's NOT what the cartoon was, it was literally made with the conscious intent for it to be exactly not that.

I like how you leave out the fact that there is a subset of bronies who are sexually aroused by certain ponys and engage in make believe relationships with them either with VR or stuffed animals.
