It goes from 4 lanes down to 2, with the two being left exit only lanes. It's 2 lanes for about a mile before it gains a 3rd lane from 59 merging in, which is a horribly congested ramp that takes two exit-only lanes and condenses them to one prior to combining with I45. Then its widens out to 4 lanes again only to have both the right and left hand lanes become exit-only as they direct towards I10 W and E. It's two lanes yet again until it gains a third lane from I10 inbound traffic, eventually expanding out to 4 after it deals with the madness that is the 610 loop. A little after that is our 2nd loop of beltway 8.
