Since ya know, he only joined the race to help Hillary, but we had it all wrong. It wasn't to help Hillary win, it was to make her more likable again. She probably needed someone like the big bad Trump to make her a victim, then steal her election so she could write her book and make lots more money while finally having the sympathies of some people.

Eh my theory is he joined up to make some quick money off of book deals, then he somehow became the frontrunner
Then he kept trying to purposely sink his candidacy, and made plans for a news network after he thought he was going to lose Then he won, and now he's just kind of winging it because if he resigned without a good reason he'd just look silly --- Not removing this until Mega Man 64 is released on the Wii Virtual Console.
