Can't tell if I should trust the critics or Facebook

Friends on Facebook claim it's boring and slow. But I have a feeling a lot of them are casual fans or a bunch of gosling fangirls.

It's 90% on RT

Do Androids Dream is one of my favorite books. I liked the first movie but thought the book was much better

Loved the anime short by the cowboy bebop director. I'd kill to have it made into an anime series.

It's great, different from the first movie, but still an amazing exploration of that dystopian world.

Movie is basically pissing on Phillip K Dick's grave.

It's also my favorite book and I hated the movie.

I do like the giant naked women tho.

The movie is a fantastic sequel and captured the ambiance of the first film well. Even though there were long stretches where nothing much was happening, I was still very much captivated and happy to return to the world of Blade Runner. It did not disappoint me and I find myself often thinking about stuff that happened in the film since I watched it last night.

explain discuss

i need to reread the book

i read the book then watched the movie, i noticed the differences but is there something specific that Philip K Dick wanted unchanged?

It's not remake, it's a sequel / continuation from the first movie and it makes several massive changes which are hard to describe without spoiling everything. So, check these out at your own risk.

This is from the perspective of the book.

1.
Newer Androids (Replicants in the movie) have open ended-human length lifespans.

2.
It's revealed in the movie that Deckard actually loved Rachel which is a direct contradiction from the book, where he originally has sex with her because he has to retire a different android of the same model as her and he's trying to make sure he doesn't actually have any feelings for her

3. (MAJOR SPOILER)
Rachel literally got pregnant and had a baby like what the fuck

4.
voight-kampff test no longer exists, replaced with something stupid

5.
Androids painted as sympathetic oppressed group fighting to free themselves from slavery instead of dangerous sociopathic maniacs

yeah #3 and #4 of angels list were really odd choices.

The movie was enjoyable, but unlike the original I have no desire to rewatch it. Also odd that given that giving a happy ending to the original was such a mistake that they did remove later, it's disappointing they repeat the same mistake.

I feel like this is one movie that even if it's sensational it will always be a let down, since the first movie was simply perfect.

Oh. No. While the first movie omits several details from the book, nothing is changed in a way that directly contradicts the book.

The second movie just takes a dump all over that presumably because they want to make more of them and there really isn't anywhere to go from the first movie so they introduced a bunch of new stupid shit so they can fudge it for future movies without having to pay attention to the book.
