That's fine. They could even make Hal Jordan gay for Batman, which might be an interesting subplot. The only criticism I have is that they did not choose Guy Gardner (my favorite Lantern) or John Stewart (the one most younger people know).

it's not Hal's fault the movie sucked. the movie would have sucked with any Green Lantern. Hal is the classic most famous Green Lantern that comic readers want. Only people who watched the justice league cartoon want John. the movie should cater to the real fans, not people who don't bother to read the comics.

The studio could make Hal interesting. He did go crazy, after all. They could make a Justice League movie with Hal as the villain. I'd be way more interested in that than this Thanos/Darkseid path that Marvel and DC are trying to one up each other with.

I still would have preferred Guy Gardner, though.

The only harassment I remember was from that gay kid from The Real O'Neals calling him a fucking pussy for the way he came out. Ended up putting his foot in his mouth when Colton revealed his dad had killed himself when he came out at 14... probably what ended up getting The Real O'Neals cancelled lol
