Oh well, Target is going to make it so everyone makes $15/hr by 2020

And you won't get any hours and standards will go up. When Wally World raised us to $10 our hours got slashed and positions got eliminated.

I do! I have two doctors notes! Guess what tho

SHE WONT ACCEPT THEM

No retail place ever accepts that. Reason is Drs notes are so easy to get and people call in constantly.

It's not. If she lasted 6 months or more she could make up to 9. Plus they drop off after 6 months. last place I worked you called in 3 times in a year and you were shown the door.

Panic attacks? lol

Yeah I don't mean to sound mean, but that's not a valid reason to call out, unless you went to the doctor or something and got a note.

Also should've done that on the fourth one

Severe panic attacks can be crippling, after a bad traumatic experience there were a couple times I was having them so bad that I couldn't even think about work or anything and by the time it stopped I had to call like "uhh sorry I'm about an hour late, do you still want me to come in or..."

Then you should have spoken to your manager and HR person beforehand. Walmart can make reasonable accommodations. But, only if you go that step. If you don't you're gunna be shown the door.

treewojima posted...
Any job that has a "points system" isn't worth your time. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

ffs 9 points and they drop after 6 months. We used to have it so you could call in 3 days consecutively and only get 1. People abuse this system like crazy still. The Walmart attendance policy is very fair and lenient.

Okay, to address a few points

1) Lel panic attacks you wuss
- When I say severe panic attacks, I mean severe panic attacks. As in, I'm rocking myself on the floor screaming into my knees, hyperventilating, throwing up/dry heaving, and fainting.
So yeah, they aren't just "panic attacks"

2) But you've been there six months you should have 8.5/9 points!
- I have been there five months and 24 days. My six month mark is literally on the 12th, which is four days away. So I'm not quite there and it fucking sucks to be so close

If that's legit and you do have a doctor's note, it's illegal for them to refuse it and waive any penalty against attendance. If you get fired, you can take legal action for them breaking the law. I doubt this is the entire story, I worked in corporate retail management for 13 years and both companies make sure you know damn well what the laws are and what you can and cannot penalize employees for.

Secondly, any Walmart I have shopped at has pretty much been a disaster, products everywhere, and the employees were just awful overall. I bet the rules for attendance and whatnot directly reflects on the quality of work they get from their employees. I think of any store, Walmart has the worst customer service with employees that generally have shitty attitudes and the condition of the store reflects how much they don't care. That's why it's an expendable position and they turnover dozens of employees a month because they normally have low quality people working there.

Look I'm not questioning your panic attacks and they're a real thing. My girlfriend honestly has at least one once a week. She's kind of fucked up in that regard, so I know they're real, and it seems like you tried to take every preventive step with them you could.

Point is, I don't know any place that would accept that as a valid non-penalizing callout without documentation, and having to be working for at least a year to get that is kind of odd if it's documented.

This. Panic attacks can be pretty bad, but I assume a job is going to need to see proof of some kind of diagnosis or visit or something in regards to it, especially if it's causing you to miss work.

You're clearly not paying attention. If you have disabling panic attacks you need to discuss this with HR and get a request for reasonable accommodation. It doesn't matter if you're new, they will accept it if it's within reason.

They can do whatever they want. They recently fired an employee because they thought she might be high

They drug tested and they came back positive. Management doesn't discuss that sort of thing with associates anyways.

This. Panic attacks can be pretty bad, but I assume a job is going to need to see proof of some kind of diagnosis or visit or something in regards to it, especially if it's causing you to miss work.

It sucks but, you gotta understand people abuse the shit out of the attendance policy. They can't just take your word for it. If you don't have reasonable accommodation theres nothing they can do. If they are as disabling as she says they are she could easily have gotten a reasonable accommodation. She probably didn't mention this to HR during her orientation.
