Is this one of those defenses for Naito? Everyone faces everyone in their block once, and whoever has the most points in each block at the end of the G1 face each other in the finals to see who wins the G1 Briefcase During the G1 you have your World Champion (if he happens to win the G1, he names his opponent at WrestleKingdom) and other single titles like the new US Championship (Kenny Omega) and the NEVER Open Championship (Suzuki). In New Japan when you pin one of these champions, you get a a title shot in the future. This helps set ups the back-half of the year by giving us our upcoming matches. Kenny Omega, The US Champion, lost to both Elgin and Robinson during the G1. Last month Juice went up against Omega in his title shot and Elgin will get one down the road. Yoshi-Hashi is getting one next because he pinned Omega a while back. This is how New Japan does things. And it's like that with the G1 Contract as well. Naito beat Omega in the finals this year and he's the G1 Champion and is set to face Okada in the Main Event of WrestleKingdom. Fale and Ishii beat Naito during the G1, so both of them get a shot. Ishii is getting his tonight, and Fale will get one down the road. Okada lost to both EVIL and Omega, and EVIL is getting his shot tonight as well. Omega and Okada IV could happen this year, but I doubt it. Omega and Okada IV can happen at the finals of the G1 next year, maybe.
