I think everyone has a right to kneel or not, regarding the anthem and flag ceremony. Having said that, your example has a hole. Of course, some veterans don't feel offended by people kneeling. (I know quite a few who aren't even offended when the flag is being burned.) Other vets do get upset about it. This is probably true of any organization or other group. The taking a knee issue has always been about what some people find insulting and what others do not, which is why the government is not arresting any players. This reminds me a lot of how some people get very upset when they hear "All lives matter", while others think it's a perfectly reasonable statement to make.
