People like to get angry at us over things that we have no control over.

Read your label. If it says no refills, you have no refills and need a new prescription from the doctor. Prescriptions expire in one year. Controlled prescriptions expire in six months. Come on people. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Just today I had someone in the pharmacy who was upset with us because we didn't have her prescription ready even though she called it in two days ago. It was out of refills and we had to fax her doctor. Well she didn't understand and she repeated that she called it in two days ago. We can't do anything if the doctor hasn't sent us a new prescription. She again repeated that she called it in two days ago and it should be ready.

Pls

I deal with my pharmacy a lot....luckily my doctors are pretty on top of it.

I have about $25,000 in prescriptions a month and it would suck if I had shitty doctors on top of that.

Yeah but she left without having understood why so if she's ever out of refills again it'll just be the same thing.

There's so much that goes on in a pharmacy that I just wish everyone had a basic understanding of. ~80% of cases can be blamed on insurance alone.

They cover most of it luckily. The CF just hit me hard and they diagnosed me with CFRD so I'm about to have even more money sinking in with the cost of lancets, testing strips, and insulin.

I love when it's a continual problen with the same doctors to get a response regarding refills. Like it gets to the point where the same patients come in and we don't even have to explain, they already know.

I haven't done anything yet actually. For now they just have me testing my blood once a day at different times. I started that on Friday. At my next appointment with the endocrinologist they are going to review my log book and we are going to try to figure out what the correct dose of insulin will be....or something like that.

Ah, well I'd recommend the pens if your insurance will cover it and you can find a copy card. Pens are so much more convenient than vials.

I am, but I was under the impression that the patent was not up until December. That shows you how often we dispense viagra here.

Although an 80 year old man got really upset with me last week because he really wanted Viagra and his Medicare wouldn't cover it.

It's really bad here. There's a specialty pharmacy that the company also owns that is like a a block away on a street with a similar name that doctor's offices keep electonically sending the scripts to. And we have to constantly call over there because they rarely actually put them on hold so that they can be transferred.

I've never found it to be that much of a hassle. I guess there are some legit cases like loss or theft but if you run out because you're taking twice as much as you're supposed to or selling it to druggies, then yeah you probably shouldn't be allowed to get more.

We do the same. Most providers here want a request from us before they'll even talk to the patient, but after we send it we encourage them to call themselves, especially if they need it fast.
