...the design of something just so in a later revision they can say the "improved" it, thus future-proofing their market share for down the road?
The inspiration for this topic is this:  This seems like something painfully obtuse of Apple to overlook. As in they had to deliberately choose not to design this properly or effectively. Apple is so focused on aesthetics and everything conforming to a specific design yet they couldn't engineer out this ugly notch or figure out a way to design around it? --- DorkLink said I could borrow his signature so I did (see below): ... The notch is a giant symbol that says "THIS IS THE IPHONE X," they needed something like that to help differentiate from other iPhones so people could show off easily.

"Mess up" might not be the right word, but they definitely leave out features they probably should have added in the first place to help sell the next "version"
