1,600 people died yesterday of cancer.
1,600 people died yesterday of heart disease.
89 people died yesterday in car crashes.
43 Syrians civilians died yesterday because of war.
Two people were killed by dogs.

But 58 people die all at once in a way we're not expecting and it's suddenly a national tragedy, huh.

I guess its because they have the delusion that they can actually fix the problem. sure the ultimately could take the guns away, but fact remains we have fucked up people in this country that will go well out of their way to hurt people when and if they decide to.

I mean hell in the 20s a group of anarchist killed a bunch of people with a horse drawn carriage and home made explosives. (not positive on horse drawn carriage, but I believe it was)

well that and the other things you've listed have just been accepted as facts of life. where as mass shootings don't happen daily.

true I suppose I only so my mother act concerned once but someone she knew called her to tell her it was going on (said person was there) and about that time it popped up on the TV

I see the sarcasm. but just wanted to say I personally have a hard time caring when I feel this world is severely overpopulated.

edit: funnily enough I just watched the first kingsmen movie today, and while he went a little overboard, I can't really find much fault with the villains reasons for doing what he did.

Cancer is a disease we're trying to cure. And we research and inform people about risks, like smoking.
Heart disease is a disease we're trying to cure. And educate people about a healthy lifestyle.
Car crashes are very tragic and make local news. Cars are made safer every year.
The Syrian war is horrible and is on the news everyday. It's a political and religious puzzle that seems impossible to solve.

58 people die because a mad man kills them. Random people like you and me. Not diagnosed with cancer, eating unhealthy or living in Syria. Of course that makes the news. Of course that's scary. And of course that's a national tragedy.

Calling that hypocrisy and "not giving a shit" just makes you an emotionless edgelord who doesn't understand the world. Luckily, most people do give a shit.

Won't you want to prevent deaths instead of just being cool that crap happens. It's better than just going around saying "Hey, cancer kills more people than mass shooters, and look we are not making laws to ban certain types cancers."
