that's not the same thing. that wall had to go up because it was a border between 2 fierce enemies. it went up to prevent war. this wall is to enforce immigration laws. I know that Germany publicly made a dumb announcement about how "we know more than anyone that walls are bad" but they are wrong. the 2 situations are very different. anti wall people are just using emotion to get their way.

They aren't building an actual wall atm, they are just prototyping different designs for the wall. It still remains to be seen if they can get the money to actually build the wall.

The problem comes from getting congress to vote to give it money. Without money it won't happen and the wall isn't exactly a very cost effective solution.

You know what else would be effective? Why not put sub-machine gun turrents every 1000 yards, along with some missile pods every mile and attack dogs every 500 yards or so. Maybe actually once in a while just nuke the entire southern border for good measure so that anyone who tries to cross gets frazzled in radiation.

And make mexico pay for it!

I still say this is the biggest waste of money ever. There are countless underground tunnels that drug traffickers and the like use to sneak under the border. If illegal immigrants wanted to get into America, they'd just use these tunnels or dig their own, and a wall would only encourage this. Unless you build the thing 100 feet deep, it isn't gonna help much.

So yes we can agree that the intended purpose of the wall was all about fascism blah blah, but the reality is it just kept people out and people divided.

The joke here is that this wall will do absolutely nothing to stop any of the issues Trump claims it will fix. It's going to be the most expensive lip service in the history of your country.

it was to mark a clear border between communism and democracy. this goes way beyond immigration. immigration wasn't even possible. if your gripe is about immigration, blame the soviets. they are the ones who wouldn't let ANYONE outside the iron curtain. we just accepted the wall to make them feel more secure about the border as they didn't want any mixing. it was the soviets you have a problem with, not the west germans.
