Yeah but he doesn't need a mommy to find him a new job and tie his shoes either. Likely all the steps you're doing he's also doing. The only step I can see him not doing is asking forum dwellers on GameFAQs for advice and so far you're shutting that all down anyway.

no i found a job on careerbuilder which far-queue mentioned that i sent to him.

and also from the city government job postings i saw the local fire department was hiring and sent that to him but his emt certification is expired and i dont think he really wants to apply to be a fire fighter anymore. but i let him know anyway. rc suggested that.

Google your local workforce development board, they should have a local office called an american job center or career center or something like that. In lots of states they have a searchable database online of jobs, so you don't have to go in the center if you don't want to.

no i don't tell him he needs to apply for jobs or even send him jobs on a regular basis. every once in a while i'll look at jobs and if i see one i'll send him an email of the posting. if he applies, he applies. if he doesn't, he doesn't. it's pretty simple.

we're really just looking for a new job for him so he can save up money to go back to school to get a career he really likes. that's actually problem solving his career. this job isn't even meant to be a career. more a temporary job for a few years while he goes back to school.

Sometimes people tell me that I should apply to government jobs, but other times I've heard that government jobs are really hard to get into, like that they get 200 applicants and only select 5 for interviews. I don't really know which is true, but I'd imagine that with your boyfriend's (lack of) experience it's going to be hard. Unfortunately I know all too well what an uphill battle it is when you don't know anybody at the company and don't have the experience they're looking for.

he feels his current livelihood is inadequate. he says it all the time. he's not happy with it. that's why i send them to him. so he can have more eyes on better paying jobs that he maybe interested in applying for. if he doesn't see the jobs he can't apply. he hates the job he works full time. why wouldn't i want to help him get a different one? but you know my relationship better than me, so continue your analysis.

yeah he's got the degree and graduated with a 4.0 but he's been out of college for like 5-6 years and has never had a job in the field. that's why we figure it's better just to find a job anywhere that will accept a bachelor's in anything like i did that pays decently so he can save up and go back to school to do what his passion is now (dietician work) so he can hit the reset button.

First things first.

Check your local community college and see what programs they offer. They tend to only offer fields that are in demand for your local area - otherwise they wouldn't stay in business. They will often have some kind of job board or local postings available.

Second - I've had the best results with Linked In. This, of course requires an account and setting up your resume/etc. I get annoying emails from it all the time - but it will ALWAYS show recent jobs in your area. I also get calls from recruiters on there a lot - which can be a pain if you have a job you like. However, it sounds like he will probably have a few jobs between this and the one he really wants, so it is probably worth his time.

yeah i literally just asked if any one knew any other places to look for jobs than indeed.

which lots of people offered advice on so thanks to those people. i found some other jobs and emailed a couple to my tiny mexican.

It is valid to ask whether he even wants you to do that or not, but whatever. GameFAQs is a national site, if you want more locally targeted job search engines and not the same national engines everyone including yourself knows about already this isn't going get you much help. Very few people are going to know where you live to even make it worth posting here.

not sure. we keep running into financial issues due to car repairs. now we need to sink $2k into our other car. so it's really vital we try to find him a better paying job.

it just seems like whenever we get to a point where we're able to start saving money for him to start taking classes we run into a financial problem where we need to focus our efforts into that. he doesn't want to take out a lot of loans if he doesn't have to which i can understand.
