Based off of the Stephen King book I havent read.

Its pretty good, though it may not be for everyone as its a character driven movie. If youve seen it what did you think?

I liked it, except for the boogeyman turning out to be real.

I guess he stands in for the wrongs she experienced from her husband and father, but it was still pretty weird.

the rest was great, though.

Yeah I didnt expect him to be real though. The dad though, when hes manipulating her not to say anything in the bedroom. Made my skin crawl.

I guess I felt that the explanation as to why he didn't do anything to her was weak, and there only real story purpose he had was so that she could have a cathartic moment at the end

Didn't really like it tbh. Weird because I did like the book.

Also feel like the flashback scene lost a little impact when you don't see her inner monologue. Adds a lot of complexity with Jesse blaming herself because she arranged and planned things so she'd end up alone with her dad that day, even causing an argument between where parents where her mother states that her dad treats Jesse like his girlfriend instead of his daughter. And then there's a little bit of her getting extremely mild sexual feelings at times ("tingles" she doesn't understand when her dad hugs her the day before the eclipse). Even a moment of spiteful pleasure when he begins to molest her because she's putting one over on her mom (who she doesn't get along with).

The dad is also mildly creepier. He tells her what dress she should wear: one that's a size too small and thus barely covers her thighs.

It was really good. Better than I expected, yes they changed things from the book but they still got the essence correct and the most important parts. And I'm happy they didn't go into the molestation thing more in depth like in the book as I don't want to see that on screen. Yea the boogieman thing is weird, I hated it in the book, but it was done much better in the movie imo.

The getting out of the cuff scene...yikes and I don't usually let gore effect me *shudders*

I donno I think it makes a lot of sense if he was the same way in the book. In the book he was a necrophiliac that enjoyed playing with and stealing from dead bodies. He wouldn't really get any enjoyment out of messing with a live person

Of course I haven't seen the movie so if they changed it then eh

I think he is talking about that it was revealed in the movie (don't remember if in the book) that the boogieman preferred to do the sexual things with male bodies

Both of these things are true in the movie and the book.

Though only the book has her state in that final letter that she'd have still offered to fuck him (something I don't think she does in the movie), "I would have let him put his **** - the **** he stuck down the rotting throats of dead men - into me if only he promised I didn't have to die the dog's death of muscle-cramps and convulsions that was waiting for me. If only he would have promised to set me free."
