If you are for gun control, then you are not against guns, because the guns will be needed to disarm people. So its not that you are anti-gun. Youll need the polices guns to take away other peoples guns. So youre very pro-gun; you just believe that only the Government (which is, of course, so reliable, honest, moral and virtuous) should be allowed to have guns. There is no such thing as gun control. There is only centralizing gun ownership in the hands of a small political elite and their minions. Stefan Molyneux

Now, I've heard this before, and I completely agree with it. What are your thoughts, RI- I mean, CE?

This is a good post about the issue

I of course believe it was despicable act of villainy like all mass-murder. I wish there were more that could be done or said on the matter, but the truth is when people like this set forth to perpetrate this type of intricate plan to kill as many people as possible, there is usually little anyone can do but hope they slip up and get caught or fail in their implementation.

Of course, then you have those on the left who let their emotional compassion take precedence over logic and reason. They quickly lurch towards some kind of, any kind of, solution in order to theoretically prevent a future act of this proportion. This typically comes in the form of blaming the instruments of evil rather than the perpetrator. So, they illogically conclude taking away the tool will somehow deter the executioner. It will not. A murderers toolbox is diverse and often creative. Need I remind people that our modes of transportation can easily be turned into weapons of mass destruction or that a little chemistry can have even more devastating effects. Despite the knee-jerk gut feeling the left has when it comes to preventing horrible things from happening to good people, you cannot legislate or regulate away evil. You can only hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Ive asked several of my liberal acquaintances how gun control would have prevented this type of mass execution and they never seem to have an answer. They seem to always know that gun control is the solution, but cannot explain why or how. They just simply appeal to the wisdom of the state to deliver them some kind of plausible action in order to placate their fears. But as Benjamin Franklin famously wrote, Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. The government is not going to prevent these actions through laws or through law enforcement. This person knew exactly what they wanted to achieve and was willing to break every law imaginable in order to execute their abhorrent plan.

The solution is not to be dictated by our emotions, and allow cooler heads to prevail in order to properly address the problem going forward. We should not start clamoring for frivolous solutions before the bodies have grown cold. And most assuredly, we do not need to strip the rights away from every peaceful citizen for the heinous act of one wicked actor. There is a right time to debate these issues, and that time should not be when everyone is still in mourning.
