Look at all the various options present:

- banning guns
- greater gun control
- restriction on certain types of guns
- greater screening on gun owners
- more funding towards mental health
- free or insured mental health for people who can't afford it

Are we doing any of these? Are we going to do any of these? No. No one is willing to actually take a move on any of these potential options. We aren't even going to consider one of them. The consensus right now is "this is a terrible thing, my prayers go out to the victims".

If we're not going to look at proactive measures either towards stopping people from wanting to commit mass shootings or proactive measures towards stopping people from being able to commit mass shootings, then we shouldn't be surprised at the next mass shooting, and we shouldn't say "how could this happen?" when we are literally unwilling to explore any action at all on it.
