Look, I don't have a pony in the race. Gun laws are strict where I live (Toronto).

But I see a primary argument against banning guns that they help people kill the person mowing down people. That makes sense I guess

So serious question... Has this ever happened? Has a normal civilian stopped a psycho gunman with their personal gun?

Yes. Of course, that doesn't get as much coverage, so they're more difficult to find.

What?

People say we should all carry guns so we can stop these murdering psychos. So has a gun wielding ped ever do this?

Fair enough. I guess it's not as sexy to the media.

San antonio texas, last year some armed robbers tried to rob a fucking jewelry store in the middle of the day, like broad daylight, one got killed by a CC, the other ran away but got shot and was later apprehended.

Also in Texas they had a draw Muhammad contest, 2 Muslims meant to shoot up the event, they both died but I'm not sure if it was cops or not. You'll see usually the places with the strictest gun laws have these type of events happen. There's no resistance in a soft target, just a bunch of targets with nobody to help unless it's police themselves.

Not necessarily any that were would-be mass shootings, but I've seen plenty of security footage where would-be robbers got their asses handed to them by a clerk/bystander/etc with a gun. Including one where the morons had the bright idea to hold up a fucking gun store.

That was a security guard, I thought of that one too.

The real reason we don't hear much about them is that only the high body counts make the news. There was a kid who tried to shoot up a prom but a security guard or cop or something on the outside ended up shooting him before he got into the building, and it was barely mentioned by the media.

Had that kid actually succesfully killed 20+ people, his name would be infamous, yet it went virtually unnoticed only because the mass shooting was prevented.

That's the one thing people who commit mass shootings have in common, they pick people who can't fight back.

My grandfather and dad as well mother sure would have without hesitation to save someone. Protecting a loved one or stranger with a gun happens much more then we hear about. The last 'media' coverage I'm aware of was regarding an armed pedestrian who saved an Arizona state trooper from a gunman back in January .
