I've heard some people suggest that it does. Do you believe that it does? And before when i was in high school of the like 3 graduating classes that i was familiar with all 3 of them the valedictorian was also the highest scoring person who took the test. Coincidence?

I just guessed on the ones I couldn't figure out and got a pretty decent score, as I recall.

So yes it does measure intelligence because I'm intelligent.

It's heavily linked to your ability to perform in school. It has no relation to what jobs you can do well though.

It measures your intelligence in the sense that if you do well on it, it shows your ability to learn the information necessary to do well on the test, which is a form of intelligence.

Doing poorly on it is not an indication of lack of intelligence tho, nor does your score have any real life application. I say that having done really well on the SAT at the time.

no lol. The score of basically any standardized admissions test like the SAT/LSAT/MCAT etc, only correlates to how well you'd do on that test if you take it again. It's not indicative of how well you'd do as a student, or how intelligent you are.

It measures how good you are at figuring out a few narrow forms of problems.

intelligence has a much, much broader range than just basic math and word definitions.

Hypothetically it could, but in practice it doesn't.

I scored well on the ACT/SAT but I didn't spend a lot of time preparing for it. My English class took a few days to talk about some aspects of the ACT. I looked through a practice test. That's about it. I'm from the Midwest, so only one other person even took the SAT in my school (since ACT is the more accepted one for everything around here)

Later in life, I met people who scored in the same ballpark as me who were way dumber. They took ACT prep courses, took it two or three times to try to get as high a score of possible, had a personal tutor, etc. That's not any indication of their intelligence. It just shows that you can "learn" the ACT/SAT front and back and do well.
