i think this notion has been proven otherwise, even though i don't think anyone is calling the switch a powerhouse on any level, ok?

It's a small step up from the Wii U which was a small step up from the 360/ps3. More modern tech can make it do some fancy shader stuff those consoles couldn't do as well.

I think it sucks because Nintendo games sell like hot pockets, and the fact that upgrading their hardware (which will only do good for them) is not a priority to them is insanely baffling

Like, I know they have a crazy piece of the gaming market share, but their potential to completely dominate is there. They have just been ignoring it for the past, IDK 10 years

I don't see it as baffling at all. We've reached the point of diminishing returns for hardware upgrades. For 90% of games, the quality and size of the game is dependent on the game's budget, not the hardware capabilities. The days where a game designer can't bring a game to a console because the hardware isn't powerful enough are largely over, save for the largest, most ambitious titles.

This. If anyone thinks the 360/PS3 had any games that look as good as MK8, they're wrong.

Speaking of the Switch, did Stardew Valley come out for it?

No. But it's been sent and I think approved by Nintendo now.

I prefer better graphics, and Nintendo is alienating third parties by not bringing the hardware power. BUT since Nintendo can do no wrong in the eyes of consumers, everything they touch turns to gold. Just slap a Pokemon, Zelda, or Mario name on it, and GameFAQs will eat it up.

Eventually they'll realize that in order to sell their home consoles, they have to release all the good games they put on handhelds for people that don't want to play low res versions on a tiny screen.

This, tbh. The hardware and graphics race is a race to the bottom.

most of their staple series, don't need the best graphics, as they tend to have this particular artsy style that doesn't demand it. but it does hurt nintendo when it comes to third party support.

I really wish they'd stick to handhelds and act as a third party for consoles.

It's a shame, though. Their hardware build quality is second to none, and built to last. If they did have similar power as a Sony console, along with the full third-party support, I would consider jumping ship. But I'd need one of those "pro" controllers. I hate the gimmicky crap Nintendo always pulls these days.
