Current Events > I started playing star ocean 3... is it worth it?

I'm like maybe 40 minutes in and I'm really not being drawn in by the story or the battle system. Should I stick with it or go with one of the following games I'm procrastinating with:

Parasite eve
Dragon warrior 7
Sleeping dogs

ehh when it came out I would've said fuck yes, but after playing the remaster, it hasn't aged well. I'd go with any of those 3 other games, especially the latter 2.

You're about an hour from when things pick up and you can start to customize skills. And another hour after that before you can start private affection events freely. Those impact the ending and some post game content (which is enough to keep you occupied for 50+ hours the first time through). Until you hit elicoor II, things are slow and dull.

The only issues with it I have are obviously the script has issues (ameena coughed for the first time in the convo and once before they talked and fayt thinks to himself how she's been coughing nonstop). But mostly, the issue with the remaster was the crash issues.

I'm about half way thru sleeping dogs but hit a driving and shooting section that has proven difficult.

Im glad to hear I'm only about an hour away from things getting decent. Just not a huge fan of the active battle system (I prefer turn based). Isn't it kinda like tales of symphonia?

Wait, what? SO3 got a remaster?! And I never knew?!

Worth playing through at least once for the best (or worst?) plot twist in JRPG history. The game's not extremely long if you don't do any of the post-game content so go for it.

I recently found out as well, I think it's on PS4. I have heard it crashes occasionally (maybe a couple of times every 20-30 hours) which kinda puts me off because if I know a game will eventually crash, I'll be thinking about it the whole time and not want to play it because it might crash and lose valuable time. On the other hand, I love the game and honestly don't want to set up a PS2 when I already have a laptop, PS3, PS4, and Wii U as my set up so I'm torn on getting it.

I loved it. I don't get the hate, but there is a plot twist that pissed off everyone. I didn't mind it though.

I definitely recommend it.

I wouldn't say it's hated, just the twist that fans of the series hate. If someone has never played one then they won't care and will just continue to play the awesomeness that is SO3.

Star Ocean 3 is pretty good, Parasite Eve is great.

I don't know if Dragon Warrior 7 ever gets good but if you're not patient enough for SO3 then forget DW7. Supposedly the 3DS port fixed some of the problems but I have my doubts.

Lol I'm about 9 hours into dw7 and started suffering from not grinding enough in battles. Still not sure I can hang in long enough for the story to pick up because everything feels like a fetch quest so far.

Eh, because of equipment and skill procs you actually can get some amazing things done in so3 unlike any tales game. (Element) blade with proc skills to MP kill is at least more fulfilling than a lot of late game trash battles in tales of vesperia. And I effing love tales of vesperia.
