Exit polls are suggesting her party received the highest percentage of votes, which means she'll remain as Chancellor of Germany.

Second place was the SPD, although they suffered heavy losses.

The AfD managed to come in third.

The Gruene and the FDP have also made large gains.

Depends on who you ask.

If you ask the right-wing they will tell you yes as it is Germany economic and social dominance/rule across Europe.

the EU is the hypothetical successor of nazi germany?

In the sense that it's an establishment of German power in Europe.

I believe the whole 'Reich' chronology is effectively:

First Reich: Holy Roman Empire
Second: unified Germany by Bismarck's shenanigans
Third: Nazi Germany
Fourth: Current situation where Germany has effective control of the EU.

I dunno, it's out of my purview so I could be misrepresenting things.

European countries arrest people for saying mean things about Muslims online or saying anti left rhetoric but they don't arrest terrorists and rapists. Joke of a region that will be destroyed in a few generations.

I dunno.

I mean that's a fair assessment I suppose. If it's referring to the German influence in the EU and not "THE NAZIS ARE BACK AND THEY'RE THE EU"

Though I'd argue that France is probably as influential

I'm going to be referring to German Unification as "Bismarck's Shenanigans" from now on btw.

liberals thought Bush ruined america and were shocked when he got reelected. just cause a side picks a leader doesn't mean they are or aren't bad. maybe they are just good at fooling the citizens . when Bush got reelected, a european paper had a headline about "how can so many people be so stupid?" I wonder if we could make a similar headline

How knowledgeable are you of foreign countries that aren't in your immediate vicinity? If you're European, it's a lot easier to say you're knowledgeable of many foreign countries when a good handful of them are your neighbors. And then you get to be elitist about knowing more of America than Americans do of Europe thanks to the fact that American media and issues have immense global presence.
