The closest person to this description I can think of is Ben Shapiro, but I never hear him actually talk about religion.

very early in his life everybody then was religious so he was too, but in his 20's 30's he became less religious and after he published his book he officially said he was agnostic

I'm an attorney and an Irish Catholic. Before deciding that I actually wanted to make money and discovering that math is incredibly tedious to me, my aim was to become an Astrophysicist and Theoretical Cosmologist.

Granted, I wouldn't really call myself 'incredibly religious', and am mostly religious because... Irish. Religion to us is more about a close knit community that tries to live good lives that follow the teachings of the Church than it is about beliefs.

Also, for what it's worth, I view the bible as a collection of fables and tales given to us by... something, in an effort to guide us towards better lives. When they come to a head, science always trumps the bible.

Edit: Oh, and the single most intelligent man I've ever know, a former Physics professor of mine, was very religious. He too viewed the Bible as a guide, more than a literal chronicle of events. He passed away a few years ago, but he was absolutely brilliant and never missed church.

Yes, I did undergrad at Baylor and knew a few. Not saying that there was a plethora, but there were a few, like one of my roommates during freshman year.

Oh yeah, and many of the professors since you're required to attend church if you're a professor at the University.

I'm not going to debate whether religious conviction requires a literal belief in the stories of the bible. What I have works for me.

I disagree. It views it as a set of lessons and not as a scientific textbook, which it isn't.

I only met him once. We had a 10 hour delay on our flight to China. He was this big black dude from San Francisco. Former pastor and currently an economics teacher in Bangkok. Had some fascinating conversations with conversations with him.

It got even better when we met this guy who worked with the State Department who's job was to go into destabilised African countries and rework their economies. I just sat and listened to them speak because a lot of it was beyond my level of understanding.
