I was reading a little bit of my bible before I go to bed like I always do, and got confused by this passage in Ezekiel:

“And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man...Then said I, Ah, Lord God, behold, my soul hath not been polluted: for from my youth even till now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself...Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow’s dung for man’s dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith”

Why does God want people to eat poop?

Ezekiel 4:12-15

Most of those translations seem to be about using poop as fuel, not as ingredient. I don't know if poop burns, but wouldn't it stink the food? Unless the baking container is well sealed.

How does eating poop purify you of your sins though? it seems like an odd request for God to make. :u I just know the thought of it is turning my stomach. That's enough of the good book for one night...

but the Lord is oddly specific about this, don't you think? He's saying that using people poop is better than using cow poop. What's the difference? What makes people poop more preferable over the cow poop? It sounds like he's saying to only use cow poop as a last resort.

How about looking up several Biblical commentaries on the passage instead of asking CE where you end up getting an entirely different type of shit such as post #11. A lot of passages in the Old Testament, especially prophecies, would make sense to a Jew but not to non-Jews without some explanation of its significance. But here, cooking with dung is typically done when there is no other fuel source for a fire available, and in this case, the scarcity will be so bad that the only dung available will be from the people which is considered unclean (non-kosher) unlike cow dung which has been declared clean by dietary and cleanliness laws. God told Ezekiel to do this to show the people what kind of hardships they are about to face.

Ew, that's gross. I'm sorry God, but I think I'm gonna pass on any poop cooked food, whether it be cow or human poop. That's just nasty.
