It's a Russian show about a guy with an absurd sense of smell and how he uses it to solve crimes. It's the most ridiculous premise I've seen in recent times.

It's actually pretty good as far as Russian TV and cinema goes. They've actually been getting better at this stuff. The plots are predictable as hell though but it's got its charm.

In this episode, he smelled a liver disease on the criminal.
But then later he realizes it's not the criminal who has the liver disease, but someone the criminal came into contact with, because the odor was fading.

He literally whiffed a dying liver via third hand.

Even funnier that they turned that concept into a popular prime time TV show.

Yeah I had initially only seen some really low budget crap on TV (like the police detective had an entirely blank room with one desk, one chair, and only a gun in one of the drawers of the desk), but they've been producing some pretty good crap. Sniffer is not good crap, but it's higher budget and basically on par with any US produced generic serial like Criminal Minds, Numbers, etc.

If you want a good one check out Nalet (The Raid). They also have a direct Russian version of Always Sunny (which is great from a writing perspective because the plots are identical but it's all cultural for Russians, but the characters aren't as distinct in my opinion), and what I think is Shameless (Ol'ga).
