Current Events > I keep trying to get into Divinity Original Sin, but I don't know what to build

I wanted to make one of my main units a sneaky thief, but then I found out that all those skills are terrible to pick at the start because of items you get latter.

I usually do pretty good and figuring out which skills look good for the types of characters I want to play. Hell, I've actually never played D&D 5E, but I've made at least 30 characters for it.

I just can't wrap my head around these skills and stats in this game. Any help would be great.

Rouge is good, backstab is OP
Pyromancer is good if you want to damage bomb.
Hydrosophist is a must for healing spells.
Archers are good too esoecially with elemental arrows.

Invest in crafting, bombs and grenades are your friend.

Charm arrow/grenade IS YOUR BEST FRIEND

Any point in dipping into another class?

Like if I take Rogue, is it a good idea to put a point into Expert Marksmanship if I want the Rogue stats, but with a bow over double daggers?

Picking 2 types of weapon is a bad idea. Viable, but it wont be effective.

Plus switching weapon mid battle waste AP.

If you wanna go with hybrids, pick magic skills that complement your main weapon.

For example witchraft and rogue can have nice combos. Since you can cast spell without changing weapon, it helps.

Boulder Bash, Summon Spider, Ricochet

Bow, Expert Marksmen, Geomancer, Crafting, Sneaking

Seems good. If you have the enhanced edition you got more choice of party memeber/ character, so you got:

A mage specializing is water spells, which is usually my main healer

A 2 handed warrior

A thief/rogue with double dagger

A barbarian lady with summoning skills and geomancy i think.

It isn that bad. You gotta have to learn to abuse the elemental gimmick.

Throw oil so they get slowed, fireball them for extra damage and burn surface. Teleport ebenies to hostile terain.

Use rain the freeze/shock your enemy. Burn water puddle to get mist, and shock the mist to get charged mist to stunlock"your enemies.
