Mmmm I just ate there today. I'm sure it's worth it for the employee discounts alone. Good luck!

I haven't had food service job, but I imagine OhhhJa is referring to the fast pace and long, sweaty hours.

I was hoping for a more elaborate and gripping tale, but I appreciate the input anyway.

I could go into specifics but I think one should be able to see from the outside why a job like that sucks

I'm optimistic.

But please, do go into specifics and bring me back down to reality. I love work stories.

Guess I'm a simple man. When I worked at a pizza place I didn't mind the repetitiveness. I liked seeing regular customers return, getting to know them a bit, and seeing them excited over what I made. I suppose that's harder to do at Paneras because people don't see you, but Firehouse should be fine. You can see all the sandwich makers, they're not in the back or anything. The pay might stink but if it's all you need at the moment then who cares?

I once cut my finger pretty badly on a knife and found out we had no band aids (in a fucking restaurant... I mean c'mon). The boss then told me, "you can't cut yourself here." Also, no matter how fast we went during lunch and dinner rushes it was never fast enough. We would always be ordered to go faster. Waking up early to stock stuff in cold freezers sucks. Customer complaints about trivial things... so on and so forth.

Then again there a lot more to do at Panera than firehousr. Firehouse is just subs whereas Panera is pastries, sandwiches, soups, salads, coffee, tea, smoothies, etc

Sounds like a lot of that just has to do with awful management. Hopefully my management is at least tolerable.
