@apolloooo

Wow. What an amazing jRPG. Yeah it was linear as fuck, but the story and characters eventually captured me. As I said the world building is there, but maybe not as big as I thought it would be, but more than most jRPGs.

I loved the battle system, even if it wasn't ever that hard, you could not just auto attack all battles. It was nice to need to use different skills and stuff, be strategic and actually use status effects!

I loved that the story was lots political, but also a bigger picture. Made it feel less cliche jRPG story thing.

As for the relationship between Estelle and Joshua I was feeling irky with was handled better than I thought, the end scenes fucking broke me. Whole thing was so adult and maturely presented I dunno I've ever seen such stuff explored in an jRPG.

When the flashbacks story with Joshua happened it was heartbreaking.

I didn't like Estelle from start but she started to grow on me, as she started to grow and I started to accept her quirky things as well.

As for the supporting cast I really enjoyed the Tita and Agate dynamic.

I dunno what more to say really, but yeah it was better than I thought it would be. I felt very nostalgic in a way, and I haven't felt this invested in a jRPG story and world in a very long time.

The only flaws I can think of is too much repeats of most music, and repetitive areas.

Now I need to start with SC

yeah, sure iti isnt as deep as say FF tactics or something, but i feel it is satisfying enough and challenging enough with some bosses.

it is. the scope gets bigger in the second chapter, but still not world ending big. plus the power level of the protagonist is well maintained over the series. in usual JRPG estelle and joshua would be stronger than cassius and they fight world ending threat or something.

anyway the political climate in liberl is pretty tame actually. it is a small homogenous country with a ruler that everyone love. if you love that political stuff, look forward to cold steel.

erebonia is alot more diverse, bigger and the social conflict is alot more dynamic and interesting than liberl.

they really do. in the 3rd, you will get a backstory flashback with younger josh and estelle that will make you understand more why they are such a good match.

all the characters are like this. for example olivier, i really dislike him at first, but in 2 he will get a tremendous development, he's my most fabulous character now. zin, schera, tita, agate, kloe etc will get even more development as well as the other supporting characters.

same

i don't mind the music since they are pretty good, but the repetitive areas is prevalent in second chapter 2 since it take place in the same country. there are new dungeons, but the cities you gonna visit are the same. i think it's just a price you have to pay with such consistent worldbuilding and small scale.

liberl is tiny, so the climate, the culture, architechture, etc are mostly look and feel the same. erebonia arc will be alot more varied in that aspect, since it is a huge country and made up by multiple annexed territories.

hope you enjoy the rest!

No one else than apolloooo that plays the series?

I'm all over it and am overly excited for any other games to be brought over, the fan translation of Zero is a bit wonky so waiting on the improved one before I really dig in.

If you liked FC you'll love SC. It's one of the best sequels I ever played and 3rd is an excellent send off to the cast (though thankfully they do pop up in the Crossbell and Erebonia games here and there).
