Basically:

Stupid German girl, 16, joins ISIS. Gets flown to Istanbul then smuggled into Iraq, where she marries a Chechen fighter.

Well, things go south for ISIS and Iraqi soldiers find her in the rubble of reclaimed territory.

Now she may face the death penalty for her crimes, in Iraqi court.



That's not nearly all the information in the article but it's the most basic I could make it.

I have no sympathy for her, quite frankly.

They really should treat her like any other ISIS member, if they don't execute her they'll be sending a message that it's ok to join ISIS if you're under 18 you'll just get to go back home and enjoy a normal life again.

in cases like this, i am often curious about what it's like to be the parent.
not only do they know she might get the death penalty, but also that when it happens, your countrymen and friends are just gonna read about it and say: "good, she deserved it"

It's Iraq, they're going to execute her. She's no better than any of the teenage boys from the middle East who join. In fact, she's worse because she didn't grow up in a country that indoctrinates people like that.

I'm guessing they're probably shitty parents if their kid joined ISIS, maybe not, but probably. And if that's the case they don't really deserve a whole lot of sympathy.

That sucks. It baffles me that anyone would want to join ISIS despite not having its ideals drilled into their head from a young age. Let alone a woman doing so.

Seriously, why the fuck would a woman want anything to do with Islam? Besides growing up in an environment where it's considered the default state of being?

i'm not so sure.
i recently read an autobiography written by a Swedish woman, Anna Sundberg, who was basically one of these people back in the 90's, and then left in 2007.
i didn't see any hint of broken family in that book, seemed more like early-20s boredom taken to the extreme.

An officer in Iraq's elite counter terrorism unit had previously told The Telegraph that she was a sniper for ISIS.

Speaking anonymously, he said: 'We found her with a gun in her hand next to her Chechen husband, who was then killed by Iraqi forces in a firefight. She said she had killed a number of our men in the battle.'

'She was a Daesh sniper, but maybe her husband pressured her into it. She looked scared.'

Further in the article it said when she was found she refused help from the soldiers making it appear that she wasn't sorry for what she did. They also found her with a malnourished baby that they're not sure if it's hers or not, but that she is lactating so if the baby isn't hers, she's probably pregnant. If so they probably will go easier on her, but death penitently or not, she's not getting off easy.

The article did say her parents divorced some time before she left to join. But that's not a good enough excuse. Plenty of people have gone through that and didn't run off to join terrorist.

She chose to be a traitor to her country and join a terrorist organization. She likely had innocent people killed when they acted out, and likely even killed them herself considering her role of authority within the group. And to top it off she was a sniper? Possibly within their own special forces?

I have no sympathy for her. I can only hope her home country gives her due process (regardless if its within Iraq or otherwise) so her name is forgotten as she is locked away for life.

I blame it on a lack of healthy nationalism. This wouldn't have happened of she believed Germany was totally the shit.

I mean, what could go wrong if Germans started raising their kids to believe German and the Germans are the best. Just really uber. Every man a total mensch. A sort "ubermensch", if you will.
