Turkey is continuing its path away from secularism and towards Islamic doctrine.
These young pupils are going to be disgustingly brainwashed.

I'd imagine that the education dept has a lot of revisionist shit going on.

Eg. This genocide probably never happened or was the fault of the Kurds/Christians/some other bullshit.

Textbooks explaining the idea of jihad are being rolled out in Turkey's religious vocational schools, known widely as Imam-Hatip high schools.

This is like complaining about a Catholic school.

Yeah that makes America dead last in countries that teach evolution when it comes to accepting evolution. There are many politicians in America including our vice President and our secretary of education that would love for us to stop teaching evolution too.

Be sad for Turkey but realize that we might become their Christian equivalent soon enough.

Like how quite a few Christians in America want "prayer back in schools," and evolution taken out of the curriculum.

That's not a false equivalency, it's literally the same thing. The difference is that they succeeded in Turkey.

then this is bad, but not as bad as I thought. I went to a catholic school and they made us learn about christianity from a catholic perspective. religion class every day, christianity is correct (particularly catholicism), daily prayer was a thing, church was like once a week as if it was a class, and oh I'm an atheist btw

It might be slightly more "bad", if I understand the Turkish educational system correctly.

Looks like it's where the 'fuckups' end up, similar to how 'murica! did it up until the mid 80s or so, but with "Allah" as part of the curriculum for some reason. May be some sort of parochial/charter system involved.

it can happen in turkey too, but not in the direction they're going. since the end of world war 1, turkey had been turning secular. it was a secular state with a secular (and likely atheist) leader. the military was made up of secularists who would ensure islamists wouldn't take hold in government. it was all going more or less as planned, until erdogan started fucking it up so he could become de facto dictator

I don't know why Christian fundamentalists are so proud of passing such a low bar of "not decapitating people."

WBC isn't the only example of Christian extremism/terrorism in America. Abortion clinics were getting burned and bombed relatively frequently in the 90s, for example. Yes, a majority of the culprits cited Christianity as part of their rationale.
