Yeah, that's feasible.

That's why parenting is a 2 person job, so that for example one parent can tag in while the other has time to take a poop in the bathroom without worrying about the kid.

But now... now we'd definitely be wary, with all the increase in crime reports and stuff. I wonder if there's truth to the saying the world's becoming more dangerous.

Statistically, no. In almost any part of the world, terrible things happening to kids was more common than it is now. It's just that, like you said earlier, it's more reported than before.

Yeah I though it must be something like that.

Sounds good to me. If I had a dollar for every time I had to come to a complete stop because some child was zig-zagging through the lane, then I could buy us all lunch.

Lane? What lane?

Oh, on the bike trails. It's like a wide sidewalk, with a line painted in the middle, for traffic to safely keep to the right and avoid head on collisions. There's enough room for four average sized people to walk shoulder to shoulder.

When traffic fails to keep right, accidents happen. One big danger is being hit from behind., since you pass on the left. This is specifically little kids or dogs who have been given six feet of slack (the dog, human, and leash block the WHOLE path).

Infants should simply not be allowed by their selfish, teenage parents to wander in the left lane on the adult bike trail where people travel more than 20mph. It's not safe and it's rude to expect us to slow down from our momentum, then punish our legs again to get back up to speed, just because you think the trail belongs to you (when you're pushing it, your energy is like gas in a car, and these unnecessary stops burn that up)

I've had to get physical on the trail when passing idiots who stop. That's another story entirely

Exactly

I remember a gif posted here a few months ago. A parent literally took her eyes off his (or her, idk) kid for a second to get his car and the kid almost got himself steamrolled

At least dogs have a sense of self preservation

So yeah, I get what's happening in the OP

This is in Colorado. The trails are usually away from the road. Sometimes there are tunnels to cross under the street without having to do so dangerously. There are rails in some places, but usually not. Some people just walk on it like it's their property, though.

Oh right, such a great episode. So glad they gave Herb a happier ending, I remember the writers commenting on how much they felt sorry for Herb who was left in ruins as soon as he found out he was a Simpson. Wow, that's an old episode. Sometimes I forget that those leashes have actually been around for ages.

As someone who was near constantly harassed by dogs whilst in Europe, I can tell you that dogs absolutely do not listen when they're told to stay, and that this post and others like it claiming they do is pure nonsense.

Unless of course the Europeans weren't telling the dog to stay but rather attack in their language which is moderately unlikely.

Real talk if you walk your dog, without a leash, you don't deserve a dog. I don't care how well trained you think it is. You're putting it at risk and it should be taken away from you.

Agreed but who cares about the dog, more like you're putting people at risk, infinitely more important than a dog.

Or more importantly, attack other people, or even come into contact with other people and spread their diseases.
