so if Light and Mia can write in the notebook for the FBI guy and doctor to write names in the book, why couldn't they have Watari kill L before with a gun or something?

If you've read the manga or seen the anime, Be prepared to hate this.

The actors did OK jobs, BUT they weren't anywhere near the characters from the Manga or even close to the anime. L is an over emotional moron, who seems to just get lucky. Light... Yeah, he dumb on all levels.

Light literally had the notebook with the page he wanted to burn, and instead of burning it or tearing it out to burn later, researches how to set up an elaborate scheme to get the page to burn itself.

Also, Mia had 2 pages from the book. The one she used for the FBI agents, I think that's the page L finds. It only had a list of names on it, which means Watari's page is still floating around somewhere too. Even armed with 2 pages, she was still dumb enough to use the full book and leave her trap completely open for Light to cancel. Sure, turns out he was too dumb to cancel it, but jeez were these characters too dumb to do anything worthwhile. lol

I think it would have been hard for them to make them like the Anime/Manga. Because in the Manga/Anime it's basically an elaborate mind game between two cold Genius's. One who chose to become this God of a new world. And the other who decided to solve crimes. Which was basically the big selling point for Death Note.


This film introduces a ton of rules and then craps on them as well. Which doesn't make any sense, why introduce rules and then completely ignore them.

I just watched it last night. It was bad but watchable. 5/10 sounds about right.

The soundtrack was really goofy.
