Saw it, loved it, but some of the comments had piqued my hype level to def con 5, and believe it or not I left the theater feeling like the movie wasn't weird enough. It was definitely bizarre but not quite as abstract as I was expecting. Maybe Twin Peaks has just warped my perception of these things.

Absolutely incredible acting, btw. Lawrence and Bardem are world class.

By the way, we were part of an interesting audience. I was shocked at how young the average person was (several teens and a couple children-children there with questionable parents). I wouldn't be surprised if more people in that theater were under 21 than over. I got the feeling that most of these people just saw the trailer during IT the weekend before and decided to check it out. Needless to say, it wasn't what they were expecting and I don't think it was well received at all by our audience.

The audience was also disrespectful talking asswipes, another thing I chalk up to the average age. Not sure if I want to catch another movie in the ghetto part of town.

Seeing it tomorrow, don't wanna get too hyped as I know how that ends up for me, but this seems to have a legitimate chance to end close to Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream for me (both in my top 10 ever)

Absolutely loved it, it's incredible how a movie can be so dense and gripping at the same time. Watched it with 3 other people and they all had their own interpretation, all perfectly plausible.

And the climax is just as Aronofsky as you can get.

Actually I'll leave Trump out of it. If you're a celebrity, the dumbest thing you can do is get political and automatically dismiss 60% of the country. That movie had no chance. Even The Rock made this mistake, and Baywatch bombed for it.

Everyone knows Lady Gaga's beliefs, but she kept them out of the halftime show. Her popularity exploded afterwards. It's not a cooncidence. People are tired of the 24/7 political nonsense and are starting to avoid it entirely. Hollywood just had its worst summer on record. Also not a cooncidence.
