If you read the post, not really. He made several factually incorrect statements, and used assumptions not reflective of any true data or even what a majority of people have been saying for that matter.

That statement of yours makes even less sense when I don't even know who you assume I'm bias for in this scenario. As a console I by far prefer the Switch to the PS4 or PC, but that doesn't make me ignorant to certain facts around the medium.

Not being compatible with 5.0 ghz Wi-Fi is actually a hardware problem. Xbox did it out of the box. For PS4 you needed to buy a whole new console for fucking Wi-Fi compatibility in 2017 lol fucking trash company

I work at a game store, and we sell triple the amount of PS4's as compared to the XB1.

The only backlash I feel PS4 is getting is that they don't seem to be catering to the indies as much as they used to.

It is still worth it to purchase a PS4 for all those awesome exclusive titles though.

I think they still have a fair amount of indies, they just don't get as much attention as the bigger releases that are being released in much larger volume. Conversely, nintendo doesn't have that pure "volume" of bigger titles, so they have to fallback on the indies. Except they're also treating indies like they're an extension of the Nintendo brand as well, and working more to get indie exclusives than Sony ever did, which is really nice for Switch owners who like indies.

Very true. I have a PS4, Switch, and a PC and couldn't be happier as far as gaming is concerned. Personally I love this gen, and the Switch is only making things that much better.

I would argue that the Gamecube and Wii-U both had amazing games you could only play on their systems. The Wii had a lot of shovel ware though.

I'm thinking that the 3DS will be phased out and their entire catalog of games will come out just for the Switch, which definitely makes it worth owning.

The Switch is a phenomenon not because it's the most powerful home console on the market, but because it is the most powerful portable console on the market.

It seems like a lot of the Switch haters are simply very old fashioned in their approach to gaming or PC gamer elitists who don't understand the meaning of the word convenience.

The Wii U failed simply because it had that stupid pointless ass gimmicky tablet controller which drove up the cost and made development more challenging than it needed to be. If they just made it a more powerful version of the Wii, and had the dumbass tablet as a separate optional extra, it probably would have succeeded.

Wii U's problem was that it was a half-baked idea. How would one fix the Wii U? Make a Switch. I still use the Wii U actually. The biggest problem is that the gamepad's range is small as hell, and it's too big to use as a controller, whereas the Switch can let you use the Joy-con and the control scheme would feel absolutely the same whether or not the controllers are attached to the system.

I dunno if it was particularly underpowered either. It still ran BotW, and it had games like Xenoblade X or Bayonetta 2. Obviously not the strongest thing, but I'd be inclined to call a studio terrible if they couldn't work with its power level.

That is 100% bullshit there though. The PS4 has WAY more games to play of a more wide variety. I really like my Switch, and when it doesn't matter performance wise I will buy Switch first (like I did for Sonic Mania), but hell the GOTY is on the PS4 (and PS3 technically).

They usually have themselves to thank for that one. Nintendo always has this bright idea of making controllers for their consoles that have technical limitations compared to their competitors. The Gamecube controller only had one shoulder button (3 if you include the triggers compared to the usual 4 of the era) and no R3 or L3 buttons as the analog sticks couldn't click in either. This made a lot of ports very challenging for 3'rd party developers, not even getting into the mini-disc format they had chosen.

The Wii and Wii U had similar issues with technical limitations imposed by "unique" controllers which weren't as capable or more challenging to develop for, and the Wii U pro controller had the same issue as the Switch's controller, which is the lack of analog triggers.

The Switch's saving grace is it's portability. If it wasn't a portable it probably would have been doomed to fail, but luckily Nintendo always knows how to do well in the portable market.

It did tend to surprise, but people act like the art direction of Nintendo games somehow makes up for performance every time. Odyssey is 60 FPS and that's the least they could've done with better hardware tbh, since graphically it looks about the same as 3D World

The Switch will probably need a few years to catch up. The PS4's problem was dilly-dallying for an entire year and getting away with it. The Switch on the other hand is fucking mad sprinting the first year, and that might be why their library is even able to be considered to be on PS4's library's level already at this point.

Not to mention PS4's rest of this year and the next year looks weak as hell

I wanna just go back to the notion that the PS series and the Xbox series grew too fast. The development time is only getting longer and the consoles are only getting stronger. Which makes me wonder just how fucking fast Switch development is. There's no way you announce a game at the beginning of the year and release it at the end of the year (Xenoblade 2 >.>). Not to mention all the 3rd party ports that suddenly popped up out of nowhere. I doubt their development time was all that long either, though their quality speaks for itself.

I prefer games that stay quiet until a few months before release (Nier Automata, Fallout 4, etc)

I knew I shouldn't have gotten hyped for the FFVII remake announcement because it wasn't happening anytime soon. Sure enough, 2 years later and very little progress made.
