Is that just an iPhone thing? My old HTC M8 has been dropped a whole bunch of times without any sort of screen damage.

I've never broken a phone of mine on my own, but almost everyone I know who has a phone has a cracked screen.

Mine cracked bc I rolled on top of my keys with my phone in my pocket during a nap. Caught the edge where the screen protector didn't reach

what i wanna know is if it's with or without protection.

In my entire life I've only ever damaged one phone, and that was because it was sitting in the tray of my center console during my world ending car accident. In fact, can't remember anything that I've actually damaged. I think it's because I grew up extremely poor, so I'm very protective and careful with my stuff.

i just cracked my s8 plus yesterday. had it a week and a half, first screen i have cracked. not even sure how i did it, i think i bumped it with my beer glass while i was watching tv...

I dropped my iPhone 4 loads of times, down stone stairs, on concrete, gravel etc...and barely a scatch, no screen protector.
iPhone 6, kinda same thing, didn't drop as much. I just got an iPhone 7 Plus. Dropped it once and cracked. Godammit --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I always put a toughened plastic screen protector on them and have never had a cracked screen. They cost like $4 off eBay.
