Seriously, that show is violent, raunchy, crude, but most importantly, hilarious for all ages. Sure there was blackface in the show and casual stereotypical native american smoking scenes smoking among other things, but damn, was it a good show.

I find it odd because I feel like there is this simultaneous thing where things where both more and less PC back them compared to now. For example, you had this on cartoons, but you couldn't even have a gay person in media or people would be upset. It's like the pendulum swung too hard in the let's stop being dicks and accept everything direction that we aren't allowed to express anything because some people think some group is not mature enough to accept it.

There was a cartoon that ended about 3 years ago about a guy who just freaked out over trivial stuff and carried out missions to seek revenge on people, things and countries. It was funny and had no educational value at all.

I think Boomerang still show both the classic Tom & Jerry and Roadrunner.

I saw a new episode of Tom & Jerry a couple of years ago, it looked like it was made in flash. Tom got powered up by electricity and kamehameha'd an asteroid.

People always find something to "blame" or "condemn", this was just a single example.

As a parent even now I won't let my daughter watch certain cartoons because I think they are "not the best option".

So while it sucks I kind of get it. However compared to today's standards of cartoon and YT channels these old cartoons were and are pretty mild. The only people who actually get offended by these are SJW and maybe the far-left liberal (which I guess is the same thing).

Otherwise I think most rational people would really find little to no issue with these old cartoons.

Edit: Far-right religious conservatives might have an issue as well but are far more likely to mange it internally and not make a public stink about it.

Plot is a much larger focus of the new generation of kids (7+) cartoons than it was in the 80's and 90's. Disney explored this at bit in the 90's with Gargoyles and is now reaching out to apply this to shows across the board like Ducktails (to great effect, IMO). They actually probably learned they could do this from shows like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, X-Men, and of course Batman:TAS.

Also, Avatar really stepped the bar up for what one could demand of a child audience's attention span, and empathy, and other Nick shows and now Netflix shows continue to operate in that space. Power Rangers, Pokemon, and Yu-gi-oh also have kept their spots on the air, other series with a sense of ongoing adventure that entice kids to tune in day after day. Were I a child raised on the post-Avatar children's TV offerings, I might find a lot of the old stuff boring too because producers are putting a lot of effort into some of these shows.

That said, some of our slapstick is timeless and will always find an audience.

You don't have to be 18+ to see a rated R movie, you just need someone 18+ with you to give consent. I've been to many R rated movies before I turned 18, first one I remember seeing in theaters was Pet Cemetery when I was 7.
