Gerrymandering may not have had a effect on the election, but from what I understand there is a generalized patterns of state governments making it much easier to vote in rural areas than in big cities. Like, you'd have more polling station in a 10,000 people town than in a 500,000 people town, so if you want to vote in the small towns (where most people vote R), it's only a 10 minute wait, but if you want to vote in a big city you basically have to spend the whole day in line

It has a lot more to do with the amount of staff required plus number of polling stations per site. Your small town elementary might have 10 and be manned by 1-2 people. How many did you have in the city? 50-100 and need like 20 people to run?

It's easy to see muh voter suppression everywhere, but the simplest fact is there's also just more places you can set up per capita in small vs large, as they tend to have same/similar state facility amounts you'd set up for polling, and 1/5 the population.

Because the media was lying to you for months if not years about Hillary's chances. Here are some facts:

1) Most of the media's polls and polling data was NATIONAL. This means that it would have lined up with the popular vote. Hillary did win the popular vote so the polls were right there. Obviously, the media failed to really discuss how a few huge population centers like California and NYC would make these polls pretty inconsequential with the electoral votes.
2) State polls were consistently downplayed when they showed Trump winning. Even if they were talked about, the national poll numbers were instantly brought up again as a counter.
3) The pretentiousness of the media thinking that Hillary would 99% win acted as an incentive for her opponents to go out to vote en masse.
4) Hillary herself was very uninspiring as a major party candidate - she clearly expected to win from DAY 1 of the primaries. She also was fairly daft in terms of her campaigning strategy. Trying to flip Georgia and Texas instead of regularly visiting the suffering rust belt? That's indefensible. She lost Texas by 8 million votes yet POURED campaign money into ads there.
