2) ive come to like 9S more after 2Bs death
3) it sucks that 2Bs entire life was basically in vain
4) wtf @ pascals entire storyline. She murders hundreds of bots going against her beliefs and ends up selling the corpses of the children that committed suicide. Does her story just end here? Wtf

Who the hell is writing these top secret yorha documents

If im not mistaken, this is the general timeline:

Humans invent androids
Some plague comes and wipes out humans
Yorha formed to trick the surviving androids into thinking the humans survive on the moon
Aliens invade with machines
Machines kill alien masters
Present day, yorha wiped out

So someone is still working behind the scenes to falsify the existence of the humans. And it cant be the machines as far as i know
Also adam and eve seemed to think the humans still lived even though the data obtained from machine hacking proves they should have known otherwise

Did poppola and devola create the tower? Were they the true villains?

Popola and Devola are from the first Nier. The specific ones from this game are different from the original but their roles were to oversee Project Gestalt. There should be some files you can find in the game that describe a bit more about that. If you saw those Gestalt research papers, that's basically the first Nier.

I recommend that you play Nier.

its gameplay isn't as fun, and the graphics are kinda bland, but its story and characters are as good (if not better) as Automata's

yes to all of those.

but even though there are three other characters that can follow you, you only play as Nier.

the only thing that sucks is that you have to collect all of the weapons in the game for one of the endings, IIRC.

but you can always watch a walkthrough online.

Project Gestalt is a major part of Nier yes.

Also if you want to know how Nier started then play Drakengard 1 and 3.

Drakengard 3 is a prequel to 1 and while it doesn't directly influence the events it gives you a bigger back story of how it all started.

You can leave Drakengard 2 out since its a separate timeline.

If you want to go through EVERYTHING in the Drakengard/Nier universe, then read the mangas, novellas and short stories including some CD dramas I think.
