Really lame motives for characters.
Tons of characters not listening to anyone else so they could have fight scenes
Seriously why does Black Widow exist, other than the fact that she is hot
The rooftop figh scene is a bunch of one-liners and everybody holding back because

Spoderman is the one shining point of the movie. Go figure, he is the one character far removed from the central conflict.

So much of this movie could have been avoided if people dropped the idiot ball and just told people why something was so important to them.

And yeah, I'm gonna pull the comic card. This conflict seems so light and unworthy of the all out actual war that was in the comics. I'm not sying the comic was perfect, but why was this movie even made when it cant compare in scope?

i nearly walked out of civil war when i saw it in theaters. huge waste of time.

it's pretty obvious that the entire movie exists for one reason, to set up the fight in the airplane hanger. the rest of it is full of nonsensical arguments, gaping plot holes, and cliches taken to the extreme ("it was all part of my plan!" and "there's no time to explain!").

Lol wut. It's not a huge cliche for a disgruntled father to hatch a plan to turn the heroes against each other and ultimately succeed in the end. The last discussion with the guy and Black Panther was amazing

the villain sets up an extremely complex and seemingly unpredictable series of events that involve controlling a Soviet Union sleeper agent and assassinating a major world leader, all with the goal of getting Iron Man to fly out to Sibera so he can watch a VHS tape. It's insane. The dude could have just fucking emailed the video to Iron Man and it would have had the same fucking effect without making Zemo into an international terrorist.

I thought the goal was to separate them and divide them internally as much as possible. He also wanted to reduce as much collateral damage as possible. His side goal was to also kill the other Winter Soldiers, since he didn't want more of these types of guys in public. He explains this near the end

I liked it even though it's way reduced from the comic, like TC said. for the movies, it was the first time so many heroes were on screen at once. and even if the whole movie is a setup for that hanger scene, damnit, I like that scene. maybe it won't hold up years from now. but it was fun to watch.

they arrived right after zemo arrived and poked around for the tape.
the fact that IM and cap arrived at the same spot was just the cherry on top.

anyways the execution could have been a little better but every action was basically to flush WS out and get some alone time with him. next up was getting cap and IM to fight which is pretty hard if they were surrounded by other people.

worst case scenario he probably would still have sent him the tape. the whole political plot etc. just served as backdrop and was irrelevant to him.
