Especially when for a lot of foods leftovers are just more delicious, e.g. curries and marinades

I usually order pricer food than other people get, plus a cocktail or two. so usually I get it to work where I pay for my shit and they pay for theirs instead of screwing over everyone else because I like to order more expensive stuff

It's so much easier to just get separate bills though.

How is it easier to individually itemise an 18 item bill rather than just say "divide by 4"

You tell them beforehand that everyone is their own bill and then they do their job.

Crazy, I know.

This is a FLCL reference right? I think it's particularly interesting that your two examples are the same examples the show uses to demonstrate the contrast between Naota's perception of maturity and his actual tastes. The show uses more, but pulpy/sweet/spicy drinks/curry and bread with or without crust both come up in notable moments in the first episode.

TC's Maturity sounds a lot like accepting things you don't like but have the power to change because you're expected to not rock the boat. It sounds awful.

Understandable if there's a significant difference but I've spent way too many dinners with people arguing over a literal matter of cents because one person got a different kind of gin.

The only time I don't split bills in groups larger than 4 is when we do something like Sushi where it's in everyone's best interest if we all get a bunch of rolls together for a variety rather than each person sticking to their own food. Indian is the same way.

I do have a group of exactly 4 friends who eat together, and we just rotate who pays for the whole meal, which works out way better than splitting or separate bills.
