I believe (could be wrong!) that the term stems from the bill called the DREAM Act. And DREAM was an acronym in typical congressional fashion

Technically yes I suppose it is. Dreamers conjures a more pleasant mental image than illegal immigrants, even though it's the same thing.

So these are the ones with college degrees and jobs that make them productive members of society right? Is there a reason they're not legal citizens yet? Are they in the process of becoming citizens? I know that it is a long and difficult procedure, but why wouldn't they attempt it? Are they not allowed to do it because they came here illegally and that complicates things?
