frozenshock 09/05/17 9:47:12 PM #1:	Basically, her older sister was very nearsighted and was prescribed glasses as a kid. Well, it turns out both the girls were very nearsighted. But when she started saying that she didn't see well, her parents screamed at her and accused her of wanting glasses just because her older sister had them. So she had to go through school without being able to see on the blackboard. Apparently, it took years before the parents realized that it was real that she needed glasses. They were just completely stuck to the idea that she just wanted glasses because she thought they were cool and because her sister had them. That sucks though especially if she wasn't able to articulate it better than "I need/want them too" which could easily be mistaken for "I want some too" like you said. Teachers and staff shouldn't be blamed as much as the system itself. Glasses for younger people often have quirky designs as well so I feel like she might have gone gaga over a particular pair and that made her parents think she wanted them just because.
