River Ridge High School Teacher Lyn Orletsky is slammed for kicking 2 students out of her class because they were wearing t-shirts with Trump's "Make America Great Again"

The math teacher told the kids that his campaign slogan was not welcome in her classroom and was recorded on camera stating "Just like you cannot wear a swastika to school, you cannot wear Make America Great Again like that"

Barbara Jacoby said that the teacher was "wrong" to have made those ocmments and said "Her actions were wrong, as the Make America Great Again shirts worn by students are not a violation of our school district dress code. The teacher additionially, and inappropriately, shared her personal opinion about the campaign slogan during class"

The principal apologized to students and families but that it couldn't comment disciplinary action against the teacher and said the students would not be punished..

Lyn has been attacked on social media and online since the footage and now has several poor ratings on her ratemyteachers profile page.

That's dumb. Should have just called them on their shit and watched them tout some paper thin rhetoric. Would have made them look much more foolish.

She should have just plain out said no political shirts allowed in her classroom, and it probably would be ok (and not kicked them out that time, just let them know the future rule).

Politics should not enter the classroom at all, and if a teacher makes a stand on that, universally, I don't think most people would object.

Kicking a student out though without foreknowledge that it's not allowed, is not ok. Taking a specific stance and saying that a shirt is not allowed because of your political beliefs is also not ok


That is at least my opinion, but, before taking any action, I would probably talk to the principle first, otherwise your just asking for trouble.

Even if they don't support trump. Just wear it for that period to make her mad.

I wore a shirt with swasticas on it to school many times and nothing happened. Of course, you'd have to look pretty closely at the shirt to notice them.
