Current Events > It still bugs me they didn't kill Spoilers in the same episode (Game of Thrones)

Very minor complaint, but I don't know why they didn't kill Renly at the end of that episode instead of opening the next episode with it. If you birth the shadow baby and kill Renly in the same episode it would have had a bigger impact, IMO.

They wanted to hook viewers with that cliffhanger.

Not sure why he's such a fan favorite anyway. His only personality trait in the show was that he was nice, I guess?

What? He was gay. Didn't you get that he was gay? He was totally gay.

I watch a lot of Reactions on YouTube and when he dies, they don't even really respond because it's right at the start of the episode and they've forgotten what happened at the end of "last week's" episode. Even my brother when we watched it live had no reaction, but I think he would have had one if they ended the episode with it.

As for why people like him, I have no idea. He's pretty funny and snarky in the books, but that's about it.

Being gay is not a personality trait.

No, but it was pretty much the extent of his character in the show. Along with Loras. Actually it was even worse for Loras.

dude, he is in the show too. Renly has one of the best show original lines - responding to Mel's talking of Stannis being born amidst salt and smoke, "Is he a ham?"

This is true. I was mostly thinking about Season 1 Renly when he was just the token gay guy. They did fix him in Season 2, that's my mistake.

True. Loras' entire characterization: He was fucking Renly. He's pretty. He's a good fighter who is somehow immune to getting dirty in a war.

Part of it was they had to cut it down to reduce it to ten hours a season.

Yes, I know that. Not bashing the show, better than a 3 hour movie

But I do fault the show on a few things that just wasted screen time like Dany looking for her dragons In Season 2. She took too much screen time when she didn't need to

There are ways to cut for time without completely destroying the essence of a character.

Well, season 5 was a mess in general. I'm not sure why he even kept his faith in Melisandre after his defeat at Blackwater.

i haven't seen any compelling theories that make sense in explaining exactly why he isn't

Have you seen him? They says he's at Dragonstone, injured. It's fake, Tyrells are planing something

We haven't seen him, only heard about it

Everybody who defends Stannis is gonna be really pissed after they read Winds of Winter, that's my prediction.

It was always true in the book that Stannis was a power-hungry man that justified himself with talk of 'duty'. His entire character is a hypocrite who talks about fair and how he doesn't want the throne but gets dirtier and dirtier to achieve it.

Praising stannis is like saying Walter White was a great man who really cared about helping his family.

Since we're talking about changes now, I found this YouTube channel today -

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV3PgptMBNJlyBx_jg2TDHw/videos

I guess he works on the Game of Thrones wiki (for the show, not A Wiki of Ice and Fire) and goes into details about changes for the show. I've only see one video, so take that with a grain of salt

mostly that her source for that information went on to become a pirate with her new fleet at the first sign of trouble iirc, and that varys' little birds do not actually work for qyburn in the book

generally what i assumed was 'anything i heard in a cersei chapter? assume the opposite is true'

she is the true epitome of unreliable narrator.

Now that I'm on my computer, I can look up the quote I was asking about earlier.

"Ten thousand of your children perished in my palm, Your Grace. Whilst you snored, I would lick your sons off my face and fingers one by one, all pale sticky princes. You claimed your rights, my lord, but in the darkness I would eat your heirs."
