Skye Reynolds 09/04/17 12:02:31 PM #1:	I played Super Mario RPG recently and Peach's Grandma is in the game. It got me thinking. Is Peach a human being or is she a mushroom person who happened to have been born looking human? The latter is more or less what I expected as a kid, so Peach's grandmother didn't surprise me. It's also the route the movie took with Daisy as she's a reptile despite her human appearance. (Because they're dinosaurs instead of mushrooms in that film.) But then it dawned on me that that game isn't necessarily canon to Mario lore. What's more, "Grandma" isn't even a direct translation. She's given a title in the Japanese woman which is a term of endearment for older women. So that means she was probably never intended as a relative in the first place. I guess that does explain one minor plot hole in the English version. When Peach is captured, all the chambermaid thinks about is how worried the chancellor must be. And if you go and visit her before visiting the chancellor after rescuing Peach, she just tells you that you need to go and speak to him first.
