If you accidentally miss it don't be an idiot and do that. Slowly move over and take the next exist. It won't be difficult at all from there to get back on the freeway to get to your exit. 3. If you think doing that because a car ahead is moving a little slower will get you to the exit quicker...:it won't. You just saved maybe 5 seconds. I'm generally the driver when with others (and by myself obviously), but when I am a passenger and they are doing something blatantly stupid I let them know. Tailgating is one of the worst. It can get yourself killed, the person in front of you killed, and the person behind you killed. Even if you happen to swerve in time (which you most likely won't), the person behind you is suddenly left with a slowed/stopped car to ram into... especially if they're tailgating you too. I never understand the reasoning behind tailgating. It's pretty common, and not even necessarily something done out of anger to get someone to go faster. There will be obvious traffic, with no where to go... and 6 cars will be right on each other's asses going 80 miles an hour.
