And it's not whether they are well-written or not when it comes to how much I like them; it's how competent they are. That's why I'll take Professor Harold Hill or Beowulf Schaeffer or Henry Higgins or Indiana Jones over Belle, Elsa and Ariel every time. That's why I take Quinn King over Quasimodo any day of the week. Because, most of the time, a competent character has more depth to them. You have to create nuanced flaws to overcome the lack of obvious elementary flaws designed for lesser minds to understand. That's why Superman, well-written, is amazing.
