I've seen a handful of episodes and it definitely has it's moments and isn't a bad show. But I don't get what made it so popular, just seems like your typical Adult Swim show. Am I not getting the humor or something?

It's kind of like a newer Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Random, over-the-top humor. Definitely more popular among the drug/drinking crowds.


The voices (especially the constant yelling and burping) were the biggest turn off for me. I get the appeal, but I just didn't care that much for it.

I find it enjoyable due to its mix of humor, existentialism, and dark self reflection.

The show is a dichotomy.

One side is very obviously an irreverent comedy that demands not to be taken seriously. It's vulgar and offensive.

The other side is high brow. It references a lot of philosophy, topics in science, etc. It sparked a lot of "analysis" of various episodes.

Gives the show some versatility because people like it for different reasons. I personally enjoy its very post-nihilistic attitude. It accepts an inherently meaningless universe, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I like that it takes all of our morals, sentiments, traditions, etc and throws them on their head.

At the end of the day, it's a very clever cartoon. I really enjoy it. I really don't give a fuck that it's "overhyped." Literally the dumbest reason not to like something. If someone genuinely doesn't like it, that's fine too.
