I thought it was because the SNES had issues with the color yellow.

FF6's Terra apparently was never meant to have green hair, but blonde.

Also wasn't there some cheat code to make Terra Blonde? I remember using a cheat that changed Terra's outfit and have blonde hair, but caused the game to be really glitchy.

you talking FF 6? is that why recent games with her have had her blonde? always bugged me her default in dissidia was blonde when she wasn't in her original game. same can be said for warrior of light but they completely redone him from the ground up

He was brown brown haired in manuals before. But many design choices like that were because of the way it shows against the background.

IIRC, she was blonde in all the press release art and all the pictures outside of the actual game.

artwork and in game is almost always differing in older FF games. they basically used whatever his names art as just concepts, they rarely fully used his drawings but just borrowed elements from it.

Yes, but wasn't she consistently blonde in all depictions outside the game?

doesn't matter, she had green hair in game. it was jarring for them to suddenly start making her blonde. whats the artwork got to do with it? as I said rarely did the artwork for older FF games and actual in game sprites/artwork match up.

only case i'm glad they started using the artwork for the actual depiction of the characters is FF 2 as he'd just look like warrior of light otherwise if memory serves correct.

Well, it's sort of the topic we were talking about. I was just pointing out that there might be a precedent for oddly colored hair in a game, especially if that character was depicted with normal hair elsewhere (which is incredibly common).

Yes, but is that because of the reasons people were speculating above (such as hardware limitations) or not? That fact alone doesn't mean that the speculations are wrong.

its because when a sprite takes place
say links bunny form
or terra's esper form
they have run out of colors to register the character with
which is why green carried over or pink carried over from link
they knew what it'd look like

also it was the eighties, so link had earrings too

I can't see any argument to defend links pink hair i've seen plenty of colors within game that could have been used for his hair. I mean the triforce is yellow. they could have easily made his hair yellow.

well doing varying shades of yellow might have been impossible

and with link as I said Link had two sprites because link could transform into a bunny regardless of what tunic he had so they had to keep pink rather then yellow
or it'd lose it's comedic effect

isn't the bunny literally just a completely different sprite? and its a bunny who cares if the hair color changes.

and varying shades of yellow? unless i'm mistaken his hair was just one shade of pink, so just one shade of yellow would have been fine. hell i'd also take brown as his hair was brown in the nes games

OoT link also had earring. and that was the 90s.

ehh no matter whats said i'll never like pink haired link nor will I ever believe they had no other option. minor annoyance in an otherwise great game.

outside the game what part of that don't you get. in game she has green hair, so that is obviously what they settled on for her hair color and only recently said fuck it we liked the blonde version better.

actually I think you're the one trolling. as artwork does not equal in game. whats in game is canon artwork is not.

how many times must it be said that FF was really bad about never using the artwork for the actual character models. atleast until ps1 era and up
